DECLARATION OF THE PEOPLES’ ORTHODOX ALERT (P.O.A.)
PRINCIPLES & POSITIONS WITH RESPECT TO DIASPORA HELLENES
Whereas Diaspora Hellenes are of paramount importance for the viability of Hellas and fully committed to the perpetuation of Hellenic history and identity, the uplifting of the Orthodox faith, the preservation of the Hellenic language, Ancient and Modern, the safeguarding of Hellenic traditions, morals and customs and the proliferation of Hellenic culture.
Whereas the outstanding contributions of Diaspora Hellenes to the economy of Hellas as well as to all sectors of human activity on a global basis are invaluable to mankind.
Whereas the ongoing struggles of Diaspora Hellenes aimed at the preservation and promotion of our ethnic and historical rights, our Orthodox Faith and our cultural heritage and identity are of paramount importance for the Hellenic Nation and in absolute harmony with the doctrine of Patriotic Intervention that we advocate.
Now, Therefore, the P.O.A. declares its unwavering support to all Diaspora Hellenes affirming the following principles and positions :
1)ACKOWLEDGES that Diaspora Hellenes are the pillars of Hellenism and the driving force behind its preservation, affirming that the State of Hellas may rely on them at all times.
2) EMBRACES, without exception, all Diaspora Hellenes in every corner of the Diaspora as an integral part of the Nation of Hellas and the Mother Country.
3) RESPECTS the sacrifices of countless Diaspora Hellenes that were coerced into abandoning their Mother Country for other geographical destinations during periods of ethnic strife exacerbated by insufficient State protection and inadequate State infrastructure.
4) EXTENDS ITS GRATITUDE to all Diaspora Hellenes for all of their accomplishments, namely for all of the works that were completed which lead to the establishment and operation of Hellenic schools, churches, community, athletic and cultural centers, associations, museums and generally, without limitation to the foregoing, for every accomplishment serving to empower Hellenism and enhance philhellenism in the Diaspora.
5) SUPPORTS the struggles of all Diaspora Hellenes aimed at the preservation and promotion of our ethnic and historical rights, our Orthodox Faith and our Hellenic cultural heritage and identity.
6) INTERVENES IN SUPPORT OF
a) the accurate census of all Diaspora Hellenes in order to determine the particularities of the Diaspora population and maximize its resources.
b) the recognition of the Hellenic nationality and roots of Diaspora Hellenes by the Hellenic State.
c) the entrenchment of the right to vote in favor of Diaspora Hellenes and the institutionalization of a Parliament with elected representatives from every country or region of the Diaspora.
d) the strengthening of relations amongst Diaspora Hellenes as well as between the latter and the Mother Country.
e) the reinforcement of relations between the Hellenic State and members of parliament of Hellenic descent serving in foreign parliamentary legislatures in the Diaspora.
f) attracting investments from Diaspora Hellenes in the Mother Country by adopting and enforcing the necessary economic and legal incentives.
g) a more efficient and supportive Hellenic Public Service in the treatment of Diaspora Hellenes.
h) the research and study of the issues affecting Diaspora Hellenes as well as repatriates.
i) the moral and economic support of Diaspora Hellenes as well as repatriates by Hellenic State authorities.
j) the effective enforcement of the Special Provisions of article 108 of the Hellenic Constitution regarding Diaspora Hellenes.
k) the improved functioning and greater efficiency of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad.
7) RESISTS all policies that exclude and isolate Diaspora Youth from the Mother Country setting as a priority policies that enhance the cultivation and development of an ethnic conscience.
8) UNDERTAKES to propose policies that empower and benefit Diaspora Hellenes ultimately serving to maximize their potential and facilitate their return to the Mother Country.
9) COLLABORATES with noteworthy Diaspora Hellenes that function as ambassadors of the principles and historic rights of the Mother Country from posts that they hold in governmental and non-governmental bodies, regardless of political affiliations οr the political Party with which they identify themselves.
10) WELCOMES all Diaspora Hellenes that accept the positions and principles of the People’s Orthodox Alert as officially expressed in the Party’s Declaration of the 11th of August as well as by its political interventions.
